Ever experienced the frustration of getting up at night multiple times for a fuzzy or unhappy baby only to find that the blankets have slipped off…again? Or the panic when your baby’s head has disappeared somewhere underneath the bedding?
The Hex Valley Down Sleep Sac has been designed to fit your baby and toddler snugly with adjustable press studs allowing the bag to grow as your child grows. This replaces the blankets and sheets in which babies often get tangled up in. When used in accordance to the guidelines supplied below and provided that the baby has been dressed in the appropriate sleepwear, the Sleep Sac provides the ideal bedding that facilitates better and safer sleep throughout the night. The goose down fill and breathable cotton casing regulates the baby’s body temperature keeping it constant and comfortable.
The press studs ensure well fitted armholes and neck area to prevent either arms or head to slip in or out. Though fitting snugly, the sac provides ample space for movement and growth. Preferably, your baby can start using our Sleep Sacs when he weighs 8.3 kg and the head is too big to sink through the neck hole when adjusted to its smallest size.

BENEFITS OF A SLEEP SAC?
- Your baby can move about in his cot during the night without accidently kicking off the blankets and waking up due to being cold
- Helps with an easier progression from cot to bed having a familiar soother
- Forms part of a familiar bedtime routine
- Creates an extra barrier hindering a toddler from climbing out of his cot
- Natural goose down fill and breathable cotton casing help to regulate healthy temperature throughout the night with insulation from the top and bottom. The Sleep Sac creates a warm air pocket that surrounds your baby
- Due to the adjustment system, our sleep sac can be used by babies from 1 year old until approximately 4 years (the size and weight of the individual baby to be taken into consideration, refer to table below)
- The Sleep Sac is highly versatile and can therefore be used throughout the year and in various sleep environments or conditions by easily adjusting your baby’s sleepwear.
- Due to goose down’s compatibility, the Sleep Sac doesn’t take up a lot of space when travelling in comparison to its bulky synthetic counterparts
- Our Sleep Sacs are sleeveless to aid heat loss and air circulation
- By opening the zipper up from the bottom, it accomplishes the dual purpose of allowing extra air circulation during warmer nights as well as enabling diaper change when needed without unnecessarily waking the baby.
Even though the above guidelines will give you an idea more or less how to dress your baby for sleep time, remember that each baby differs from the next and therefore monitoring their body temperature regularly is advisable until you’ve learnt what he is most comfortable in in his specific sleep environment.
To get a good indication of your baby’s core temperature, you can gently place your first 2 fingers down the front or back of their clothes’ neckline and feel if they are hot, cold, or warm. In general a baby’s hands tend to be cool or cold and is therefore not an appropriate indicator. Typically, if he feels clammy or sweaty, layer him down and vice versa.
Pointers to bear in mind:
- Never use a blanket or duvet as an addition to the Sleep Sac, rather use more or less layers of clothing.
- Never add a hood or beanie for sleep time as heat loss through their heads help with core temperature regulation.
- Make sure that, when using a heater in the room, it is placed well away from the cot, and that the appropriate Tog value Sac is being used.
- The recommended temperature inside the nursery range between 16°C to 20°C.
Caring for your baby’s Sleep Sac
- All Sleep Sacs can be hand washed or zipped up in a machine using Golden Products’ Super 10 or Woollite on gentle cycle (ensure that detergent has been rinsed out well). For drying, they can be hung out horizontally (fluffed regularly to prevent lumps from forming) or tumble dried on low.
- Vanish works well for spot cleaning.
- When not in use, store it away lightly rolled up inside a pillowcase.
- Important: never have your Sacs cleaned by a Dry Cleaner
