OUR FAMILY – THE LEGACY CONTINUES
Situated in the Hex Valley, tucked between mountains and beautiful vineyards, you’ll find De Doorns. This is where Christine Jordaan has been running her goose down business for nearly 30 years.
Raised on a cattle farm in Namibia, Christine used to closely observe her mother sewing pillows and “bulsakke”. Dexterous of hand, Christine unknowingly gained the needlework skills which would one day help her make a flourishing success of Hex Valley Down.
After marrying Retief Jordaan and starting a family, she embarked on the journey of breeding with geese on the farm. She used the down and feathers of the birds to make duvets, pillows and sleeping bags for her family. As Christine’s precision and handiwork to craft beautiful down bedding grew in popularity with family and friends, the idea of Hex Valley Down was born.
With a few savings, she took a leap of faith by buying a roll of material, meticulously handcrafting her products, selling them and then starting the process all over again. And over again. As demand grew over the years, what started out as a hobby, an idea, a flourishing business developed undergoing wonderful changes and growth, one of which was the joining of hands by her only daughter, Annemien.
The team of Hex Valley Down consists of like-minded women of the surrounding community and through their commitment to nurture quality-driven products, they are the pillars of strength of this thriving family business.
From our hands to your family we bring you home sewn luxury.
